Jay Gruden confirms Redskins will consider QB in first round

There were rumors that the Washington Redskins were not content with sitting on their trade for QB Case Keenum. Those rumors have now been confirmed.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said that they will “be taking a hard look at the top QBs” in the coming NFL Draft.

The Redskins have already met with West Virginia’s Will Grier, and they are scheduled to have a meeting with Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins.

Washington holds the No. 15 pick in April’s draft, and it is likely that most — if not all — the top QB’s will be off the board by then. If the front office is serious about getting a young signal caller that can be groomed behind stop-gap Keenum, then they will seriously have to consider trading up to grab a top-10 pick, at the least.

If not, then the Redskins will be forced to make Keenum shoulder the load until Alex Smith returns from his gruesome leg injury, whenever that may be.

For the sake of #HTTR psyche, let’s hope that the Redskins front office doesn’t choose the latter option.
