Much has unfortunately been said on a national scale about the potential marriage between the Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow.
But all speculation aside, those in the know understand it’s a rather good place for Burrow to land. Not only does the current roster boast elite threats like Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd, coaches with big-time quarterback experience litter the staff.
The Athletic’s Jay Glazer made this exact point in a recent mailbag:
“I think Joe’s most recent quotes ring the truest, as in … we haven’t even had the combine yet, he hasn’t even met with these teams yet. It’s so early in the process. He may go in and meet with the Bengals and think, ‘Man, I really vibe with Zac Taylor.’ I personally think Taylor would be great for him. I do. I think Taylor is a very good quarterback mind, football mind, and everyone at the Rams raved about him and his work with Jared Goff and that offense their Super Bowl year. He’s the right guy for that job!”
While Glazer admits there are some organizational red flags when it comes to the Bengals (free-agent approach, size of scouting department, etc.) the important points about a quarterback’s development are impossible to ignore.
And generally speaking, Cincinanti has been a great place for quarterbacks. The Bengals are, after all, the team that has essentially had two franchise passers dating back to 2003.
