Jay Donnelly thanks fans after making Glentoran debut

Jay Donnelly has thanked Glentoran's fans after making his debut for the club on Friday night.

Donnelly came on as a substitute in a 3-0 friendly win against Warrenpoint Town at the Oval.

The 25-year-old tweeted after the game: "Delighted to make my debut for Glentoran and get few minutes under my belt. Wanna thank the fans for lovely reception, on to the next one."

Donnelly joined the Glens last week from Belfast Celtic, but was due to go back on loan with the Ballymena Provincial League club until January.

Mick McDermott then confirmed this week that Donnelly was remaining with Glentoran due to the intense media attention surrounding his arrival on Mersey Street.

Donnelly served a three-month prison sentence last year for distributing an indecent image of a child.

The deal prompted significant media coverage, with a number of Glens fans critical of the move.
