Former Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is sharing an inside look at his hunt for a “chicken serial killer” and fans on social media can’t get enough.
On his Instagram account, @IfJayHadAnInstagram, which was previously managed by his now-ex Kristin Cavallari, Cutler announced Wednesday that there was a “chicken serial killer on the loose” at his farm in Nashville, Tennessee, and he was determined to find out who was responsible for his missing chickens.
“OK, here’s the deal, first [Instagram] story, big one,” Cutler said Wednesday. “We’ve lost quite a few [chickens]. Tonight we’re going to set up the trail camera to see if it’s a coyote, bobcat, I don’t know, raccoon. Could be anything.”
Cutler suspected it could’ve been an “inside job” and accused his cat, Thelma, of being responsible for the heinous crimes.
He later debunked that theory.
“To the cat: while I’m not sorry you were accused of these vicious acts, I will be the bigger person and admit I was wrong,” Cutler wrote in an Instagram post, published Thursday. “You are not the suspect we are looking for. Take it as a compliment for your savage ways of life. Carry on Cat.”
A rainout Wednesday night postponed the stakeout to Thursday night. Cutler wore high-tech night-vision goggles and sat up all night with his neighbor waiting to find out who the culprit could be. He also brought in backup to protect his chickens in the form of a rooster, whom he named “Ole Blue.”

By Friday morning, Cutler was still looking for the evil-doer responsible for the missing chickens.
“No culprit last night, which is OK,” Cutler said on his Instagram story. “Stayed up way too late, super tired this morning.”
Cutler’s surly personality — which will likely be the biggest influence on his legacy — has made him an internet sensation in the past. With the “smokin’ Jay Cutler” meme and Cavallari posting a nude vacation photo of him on her accounts, Cutler, who was basically the leader of the anti-social media movement during his playing days, didn’t even need an account to go viral.
But now it seems, Cutler has had a change of heart when it comes to social media. And fans are loving every minute of his chicken saga, which some are calling “must-watch” content.

Since he retired from football, Cutler has dabbled in NFL broadcasting and reality TV. He starred in his wife’s show, “Very Cavallari,” which gave viewers an inside look into Cavallari’s life running her Uncommon James retail empire.
Shortly after Cavallari and Cutler announced they were getting a divorce in April, Cavallari said she had “decided not to continue with ‘Very Cavallari.’”
