Jay Cutler auditions for possible broadcasting role: report

Just when Chicagoans thought they were done inviting Jay Cutler into their living rooms on fall Sundays, the deposed Bears quarterback might reappear on TVs as soon as footballs start flying again.

Cutler's ongoing search for a landing spot includes a possible broadcasting role, according to an NFL Media report.

Cutler, 34, reportedly has auditioned with a TV network while continuing to search for a team willing to sign him to a deal of his liking.

While it might be difficult to imagine Cutler as a broadcaster, given how adversarial his relationship with local media was at times during his eight seasons with the Bears, he did have a weekly show on WMVP AM-1000 during several of those seasons.

He took those opportunities to showcase a sense of humor and dry personality that he often was reluctant to display in normal postgame and post-practice interview settings.

By the end of Cutler's Bears tenure, he seemed to enjoy discussing with reporters the technical elements of playing quarterback _ breaking down opponents' tendencies, describing coverages and players' strengths. Perhaps that would serve him well in a broadcasting role that would certainly challenge him to exude more energy and enthusiasm than he usually did when dealing with local media.
