Jaxson Dart Recklessly Launches Himself Head First Into Defender, Gets Away With Penalty

Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart had to be evaluated for a concussion against the Eagles in Week 6. Dart took off running but was hit hard by two Philadelphia defenders and had to leave the game for much longer than coach Brian Daboll wanted.

Dart was not evaluated a few minutes earlier when he launched himself head first into an Eagles defender. Dart was running towards the sideline on third down when linebacker Jihaad Campbell met him near the sideline. That's when the quarterback just kind of leaped forward and hit Campbell helmet-to-helmet.

By early in the fourth quarter, Dart had carried the ball nine times for 58 yards. He took some hard hits, including the one that sent him to the blue tent. The Giants should want him to get out of bounds—initiating helmet-to-helmet contact is the last thing any player should be doing, let alone the rookie quarterback.

If a defender had hit Dart like this he definitely would have been flagged and he might have even been ejected. The Giants understand that Dart's physicality is what could make him special, but doing something like this is inexcusable.
