Jawed Habib in trouble, video of him spitting on woman's hair goes viral

Jawed Habib is one of India's most popular hairstylists and the man who revolutionized hair cutting in India by opening a chain of salons seems to have invited some unexpected trouble. A video of celebrity hairstylist Habib spitting on a woman's hair during a workshop has gone viral on social media. And that's not all, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the incident and chairperson, Rekha Sharma has written to UP DGP to immediately investigate into the matter.

According to media reports, the video surfaced after conclusion of a training seminar in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar. It features a woman sitting on a chair on the stage and Habib walks in to cut her hair, but begins by spitting on her head stating that her hair is dry. Sharing the hair care tips with the audience, he can be heard saying, "Agar paani ki kami hai na.. iss thook mein jaan hai."

While some of the women in workshop took it as a joke and cheered for the hairstylist, the woman sitting on the chair was all grossed out and in a video clip doing the rounds on social media, she can be heard complaining, "My name is Pooja Gupta, I run a parlour named Vanshika beauty parlor and am a resident of Baraut. I attended Javed Habib sir's seminar yesterday. He had invited me for a haircut on stage and he misbehaved a lot. He was showing if you do not have water you can use your spit as well. I did not get my haircut done. I would get my haircut from any local shop but never from Jawed Habib."

Jawed Habib's seemingly harmless joke has attracted a lot of backlash and netizens are sharing the video with derogatory posts for the hairstylist.
