Jawaan Taylor to sit out field drills at combine with a hamstring injury

Florida right tackle Jawaan Taylor unfortunately won’t be taking the field for the upcoming combine’s skill drills with his comrades who will be entering the 2019 NFL Draft. Early Monday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that the young Gator will elect sit out this week’s performance drills due to a mild distal hamstring strain after Dr. James Andrews advised him to take it easy.

Taylor, 21, is a name who has been associated with the Jags in many mock drafts due to their concerns at right tackle as Jermey Parnell’s future with the team is up in the air. Additionally, the 32 year old has shown signs of slowing down, and Taylor — a first round talent in the eyes of most — has often been labeled the perfect replacement, especially if the Jags trade back from the No. 7 pick.

Taylor started in 35 games while at Florida, so teams have more than enough film on him and missing the combine may not hurt him too bad. Additionally, his injury is one that shouldn’t prevent him from performing at Florida’s pro day, which will take place next month on March 27.
