Javier Hernandez absent from West Ham squad as Sevilla transfer links intensify

Javier Hernandez is fit and available for selection but was not included in West Ham's matchday squad for their Premier League encounter with Norwich City at London Stadium.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Sevilla over the past 24 hours and it has emerged that the Hammers and the Spaniards have been in discussions over a transfer for the past few days.

West Ham are holding out for £8m for the Mexican frontman and have rejected two bids from Sevilla for the striker.

Hernandez has indicated to the Hammers hierarchy that he wants them to consider letting him go as he will struggle for regular football in east London this season.

Some reports have claimed that Hernandez is already in Spain and has agreed personal terms but football.london understands things are that far advanced just yet.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed on Thursday that Hernandez was fit after a knee injury that caused him to miss the wins over Waford and Newport County.

But the striker was left out of the squad entirely for the visit of Norwich to east London with Albian Ajeti named on the bench as Sebastien Haller starts up front off the back of his brace of goals against Watford last time out.

Another player missing from the squad was Jack Wilshere, who is not injured as he did emerge from the team bus that arrived at the ground at 1.30pm this afternoon.

If Hernandez is to move, it would have to be completed by the end of the European transfer window, which slams shut at 6pm on Monday.
