Yu Darvish's 5th-inning struggles continue as Cubs fall to Rockies, 5-2

DENVER _ Not even an over-the-shoulder catch by center fielder Albert Almora Jr. could prevent Yu Darvish from his latest woes Saturday night.

For the second time in as many starts, Darvish was knocked out in the fifth inning as the Cubs lost to the Rockies 5-2 at Coors Field.

Darvish was tagged for five runs after two outs in the fifth after pitching four innings of one-hit ball. Darvish's biggest mistake was a walk to opposing pitcher Tyler Anderson with two outs.

DJ LeMahieu, who was robbed of an extra base hit when Almora sprinted to the center field fence to make a spectacular catch to end the third, followed with an RBI ground-rule double.

Gerardo Parra followed with a two-run single that gave the Rockies the lead for good.

Darvish, who committed a balk that led to four runs in the fifth inning of a loss to the Braves on April 13, was upset that his 0-2 pitch to Trevor Story was called a ball.

Story hit the next pitch for an RBI double that resulted in Darvish's removal. Darvish has failed to pitch at least five innings in three of his four starts.

Almora set the tone with a single to start the game and scored on a two-run double by Willson Contreras with two outs.

David Bote, making his major-league debut, hit a double for his first hit in the second. Bote was promoted from Triple-A Iowa to take the roster spot of disabled Ben Zobrist.

The Cubs managed two hits after the second inning.
