Javi Gracia buoyed by Leeds United's 'competitive' response in Leicester City draw

Javi Gracia was pleased with how his players competed in the draw against Leicester City despite it not being their best performance.

Leeds went ahead when Luis Sinisterra climbed highest at the back post to head home Jack Harrison's perfectly flighted cross in the 20th minute.

Sinisterra would be forced off with an ankle injury shortly after, and has since been ruled out for the rest of the season. Leicester fought back and equalised 10 minutes from time when Jamie Vardy evaded the Leeds defence to latch onto James Maddison's pass, and fire past Illan Meslier.

Despite missing out on all three points, Leeds ended a run of three straight defeats. And the competitiveness that the Leeds players showed has given Gracia confidence that his side can pick up more points during the Premier League run-in.

"In my opinion, it was a strange game because it was when we showed face in the first half, creating many chances and in my opinion deserving a better result. But in the second half, we changed, we conceded goals, many clear chances and they showed their quality and made the difference," Gracia said.

"After that, we've competed in some games well, not all the games but in the last game against Leicester, we competed better even though it wasn't our best game. I think we are close to competing and at the same time getting the results we need."
