Sam Strong directs the stage adaptation of Jasper Jones, Craig Silvey’s bestselling novel, for Melbourne Theatre Company. The coming-of-age-story, described as “an Australian To Kill a Mockingbird”, was adapted by Kate Mulvey.
Charlie Bucktin is an intelligent but awkward 13 year old boy who lives in the fictional town of Corrigan. Late one summer night, Jasper Jones knocks on his window. Charlie has been told by everyone to steer clear of Jasper. But now Jasper begs Charlie to come and see something – something awful, something that will change his life.
