The track I’ll be opening my next DJ set with
Ken Gill: Love Moon
This track got sent to me a couple of weeks ago and I can’t get enough of it. It’s deep, dreamy and lets me set the tone for whatever direction I’m gonna take the dancefloor in.
The track I always play to rescue a dancefloor
Daddy’s Favourite: I Feel Good Things For You
My dad – Sub Club’s Harri – produced this track and it was a minor hit in the late 90s. I remember playing this at my first ever gig, which was my mum’s 40th. I must have been about 12 years old. Fast-forward 12 years and it’s still getting me out of trouble.
The track that currently gets the most rewinds
SIS: Nesrib or Luther Vandross: Give Me The Reason
You can find both these tracks on a regular rewind at our afterparties in Ibiza. Never fails to have the whole party – usually Jackmaster, Matty, Richy Ahmed and myself – on our feet, the four of us dancing around our villa as the sun comes up and then goes down again.
The track I think has been unfairly slept on this year
Mario Cruz: Little Thing (Doorly Sunrise Reprise)
I heard this at Elrow during Sonar in Barcelona. It blew everyone’s head off. I waded my way through the pool of sweaty punters to get the track ID and have been rinsing it ever since.
The track I wish I’d never played
Hot Chocolate: You Sexy Thing
It was at an afterparty at Shoreditch House. I was playing back-to-back with Jackmaster and when I was bringing it in on the mix, he looked at me like: “Are you sure, mate?” A combination of Buckfast and cocktails got the better of my judgment on that one… I apologise to anyone there who had to witness such a travesty. Email scott@grademanagement for a refund.
The track I’d play at my auntie’s wedding
Pointer Sisters: Automatic
If any of my aunts are looking for a wedding DJ, get in touch… My dad is looking for a gig.
The track I wish I’d signed to my label
Denis Sulta: It’s Only Real
Denis Sulta AKA Hector Barbour is a friend of mine from Glasgow. He sent me over this track and immediately I had both hands in the air “geein it yaldy” (having a jolly old time).
The track I’d play at my funeral
Anything by Slipknot, Korn or Marilyn Manson. It will help lighten the mood on a very grim day.
