Jason Terry tried to get Kevin Garnett to join him in BIG3

Jason Terry last suited up for an NBA game in 2017-18 as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. Apparently, the one-time Boston Celtics guard (2012-13) wasn’t long for retirement because he’s heading back to organized basketball as a player.

The 41-year-old is now a part of the BIG3’s Trilogy as a rookie captain — which may be a first in the history of sports. The Trilogy roster also includes former NBA players Carlos Arroyo, Patrick O’Bryant, James White, and Sam Young.

But Terry was looking to add another ex-NBA talent to the Trilogy roster. Terry told CloseUp360.com he reached out to Celtics legend Kevin Garnett about joining the BIG3.

That’s my guy. And if he wanted to ever lace them up, I’d love to see him do it.

As much as Terry would enjoy playing alongside Garnett in the 3-on-3  format, he didn’t expect the future hall-of-famer to make a commitment to playing again for an extended period of time. He was just being duly diligent.

You’ve got to understand, guys that have played as long as they (Garnett and Jason Kidd) did in their careers and now are retired, they are searching out other passions in their life. For them, they would rather watch and cheer us on because they gave all they could give to the game. When I retired, I still thought I had a little bit more to give, so this will be my opportunity to do so.
