Jason Statham not making it as an Olympic diver is 'still a bit of a sore point'

One of Jason Statham’s biggest regret is a surprising one.

Action film's resident hard man says having his Olympic hopes dashed in the 90s is still something he struggles to accept over two decades later.

Statham failed to take home a medal in three competitions at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in New Zealand when he represented England in diving.

The lucrative acting career that followed failed to soothe his disappointment.

He told the Press Association “It’s a bit of a sore point I never got to the Olympics.

“I just heard they got seven million or something for the diving per year. They deserve it. The divers we’ve got now are just terrific.

“I started too late. It probably wasn't my thing. I should have done a different sport.”
