Jason Sherlock 'felt it was important' to travel with Dublin squad to Kerry for League clash after rift rumours

Jason Sherlock has put to bed any rumours surrounding his absence from the start of Dublin's 2019 League campaign.

Reports back in February indicated that Sherlock's time with Jim Gavin and Declan Darcy on the Dublin coaching ticket may have come to an end.

But the former star corner-forward was with the side when they made the trip to Tralee to play Kerry after the reports came out.

And while Sherlock didn't deny a rift was brewing, he said it never got to the point that he was on the outs with the rest of the management team.

"The lads had only been back," Sherlock told RTE.

"I'd been on holiday with them in January. It wasn't as if I was away for very long, and obviously I would have been in contact with players and management through that process. It wasn't as if there was a total separation, as such.

"It was just figuring out things in my own head, and then obviously with Jim and Dec to see that we were serving the players as best as we can. It was a simple as that.

"I understand media have responsibilities, and they want to create stories and get messages out.

"I thought it was important when these headlines came that I was involved down in Kerry, we moved on from there."
