Jason Reitman will work with Nick Hornby on the bank heist thriller I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family, about an ordinary Texas family who embarked on a crime spree, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The true life comedy drama, which Reitman will direct based on a Hornby screenplay, is to be adapted from an article in Texas Monthly magazine about a 50-year-old structural engineer from Houston who broke into two local banks in 2012 with the help of his son and daughter. Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, Jason’s father, is producing.

Jason Reitman is best known for directing comedy-tinged dramas such as Thank You for Smoking, Juno, Up in the Air and Young Adult. He has been nominated for four Oscars. Hornby, the British author of novels such as About a Boy and High Fidelity, picked up his debut Oscar nomination in 2010 for An Education. His script for the Reese Witherspoon vehicle Wild, director Jean-Marc Vallée’s true-life tale about a woman who hikes more than 1,000 miles to come to terms with the death of her mother, is currently attracting further awards-season buzz.
