Jason Peters turning down free agent offers in hopes of returning to the Eagles?

Jason Peters and the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly have a mutual interest in reuniting and he’s so serious about staying put, the left tackle is turning down more lucrative offers.

Derrick Gunn of NBC Sports Philadelphia was a guest on 94WIP on Thursday morning and he gave some insight into Peters pending return to the Eagles.

“Jason Peters, they know what he is, what he’s capable of doing. From what I’ve been told, Peters turned down offers from elsewhere because he wants to stay with the Eagles. The Eagles want him. Now, you can look at it on the surface and say, well he’s 38 years old. But I will say this; he is that rarity of a guy who, at 38 years old, is still one of the best technicians at his position and is still, I would argue, one of the top 10 players, I think you guys would agree, at his position as well. Granted, injuries have started to pile up a little more, he’s playing 80 to 85 percent of the snaps. But I’d rather have Jason Peters 80 to 85 percent of the time than not have him at all right now.”

A nine-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro, Peters finished the 2019 NFL season as one of the top-rated offensive linemen in all of football.

Peters is still a better player than Andre Dillard and another year of learning and watching behind the future Hall of Famer can only help the former Washington State All-American continue to adjust to the NFL.
