Jason Naismith transfer push as Hibs look to beat deadline in bid to land Peterborough defender

Hibs are trying to thrash out a loan deal to bring Jason Naismith back to Scotland.

The Easter Road side are in talks in an attempt to bring the defender back from side Peterborough United.

Hibs have been unable to agree terms with the English League One side but are hoping to get a deal done before the window closes at midnight.

Paul Heckingbottom may need to send a fringe player out on loan to free up the cash to land the former Ross County full-back.

Dundee are interested in left-back Sean Mackie and aiming to strike a deal in the closing hours of the window.

Naismith is on the search for regular action having moved to Peterborough from the Staggies last summer. A return to the Highlands was also on the cards for the 25-year-old.

Chairman Roy MacGregor had confirmed his interest but his management team of Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson said they would prefer to strengthen other areas of their squad.
