Jason Manford has revealed his seven-year-old son was bitten by a horse while out on a family bike ride.

The comedian said the incident, which occurred when they went to greet some horses, was the “weirdest thing” he’s ever witnessed.

Speaking on his Absolute Radio show, he said: “The horses always come over when we stop – they always say hello. There was a new horse and he had mad eyes. I should have spotted that, looking back.”

He continued: “It was a mad 60 seconds. I had my little boy, the two-year-old, on the seat of my bike. This horse out of nowhere, lurches forward and bites my other son on the chest.

“The bruise is the worst you have seen. That moment I left to save him and my bike fell over – and the other boy fell to the ground. It was one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me.”

Manford’s son was not seriously hurt, and the comic joked: “He's in a stable condition now. He's fine.

"When we got home he was sending picture to his mates. I asked him, ‘Why the long face?’ later but he didn't get it, which is a shame."
