Jason Manford performs post-show 'gig' in ambulance for elderly fan

Jason Manford has revealed the unlikely location for his latest crowd-pleasing gig: the back of an ambulance.

The comedian is currently starring as Caractacus Potts in a UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and had just performed the first show in Southampton when he saw an ambulance outside the theatre, on his way for a post-show pint.

Writing on his Facebook page, the 34-year-old explained it was an elderly woman on her way from the show who had fallen and broken her arm, she was accompanied by her husband in the ambulance who let him say hello.

“She was in such a lovely mood (I’m guessing the gas and air) so just did a couple of gags for them and the staff, some photos and left them on their way! Probably the smallest and weirdest ‘gig’ I’ve ever done!,” he wrote.

Manford wished the woman well and thanked her for coming to the show.

The comedian later joked with a fan who asked him on Facebook whether he bought the patient and ambulance staff refreshments, like David Beckham recently did while out in central London.

“At theatre prices!,” Manford responded.
