Jason Manford let slip today that Catherine Tyldesley broke an important Strictly Come Dancing rule.
The comic revealed that he knew that his Scarborough co-star was taking part in the BBC One show before the line-up was announced.
The celebs taking part in the dancing programme are told to keep schtum about their participation and can only usually tell an immediate family member.
But former Coronation Street actress Cath couldn’t help get some advice from her co-star about whether she should sign on the dotted line.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Jason said: "We were filming it [Scarborough] when the phone call must have come through for Strictly because she came in and went, 'I’m not allowed to talk'.
“But she said, 'what do you think, should I do it?'.
"I said, 'Of course you should. We want tickets for Blackpool'.”
Jason laughed as he joked that they were humming the Strictly theme tune on set each day.
When asked whether Cath will be any good on the dancefloor, Jason predicted she could be this year’s surprise contestant.
"I think she will be good. She’s a dark horse. She’s also very likeable as well," he said.
Scarborough, which starts tonight, stars Jason and Catherine as a former couple who split up but have been brought back together again in later life.
Teasing the first episode, the ITV breakfast show, hosted today by Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, showed a clip of them during an intense scene.
Jason laughed: "Well that's a laugh a minute ain't it? Great clip guys. Blooming heck."
