Jason Manford lands job ferrying OAPs to medical appointments after Tesco rejection

Jason Manford has found his lockdown calling after joking about being rejected by Tesco.

The comedian, 38, is getting in his car and taking OAPs to medical appointments.

Jason recently told that his application to take a temporary role at Tesco during lockdown had been rejected - after he missed the application deadline.

Still, he's not letting it get him down as he channels his energies into another role that let's him play his part.

Filming from his car, Jason told that he was on his way to pick up Dorothy after her appointment with a podiatrist.

"Am I a friend of Dorothy?" he asked, "No, but I am now.

"We've had a good chat, me and Dorothy on the way to the podiatrist. She's lovely.

"She's a bit deaf, so we've been shouting at each other. It's all right."

Proudly flaunting his uniform, Jason continued: "I've got me masks, I've got me little badge - volunteer driver.

"Got me hi-vis, which I'm well excited about. What else am I going to do? No one needs stand-ups in an emergency."

"I better go in a minute," he later added, "Because Dorothy will be out of her meeting.

"Meeting? Is that what they call them? Appointment. Bless her."

After Jason shared that he'd been rejected by Tesco, the supermarket shared a sweet response.

The store wrote: "We've recruited around 50,000 temporary workers during the Coronavirus pandemic and they have played a huge part in helping us to serve customers safely during these unprecedented times.

"Jason's skills would no doubt have brought a lot of joy to our customers and colleagues, so it's a shame he didn't make the deadline for this vacancy.

"But should he ever want to join the Tesco family in the future, we'd be application to receive an application from him."

Iceland waded in, appearing to take a swipe at rivals Tesco by using their slogan "Every Little Helps."

They wrote: "Our door is always open for you @JasonManford.

"Help us out for a day and we'll make a donation to the NHS in your name. #everylittlehelps."
