Jason Manford has built an awesome treehouse for his kids inspired by the Manchester weather

Jason Manford has delighted fans by sharing the 'awesome' play area he's built for his children.

The Salford comic has built an impressive wooden treeboat inspired by the Manchester weather.

Jason, who has six children, shared a series of photos on his social media of the nautical creation which comes complete with a steering wheel.

Explaining the idea he wrote: "Argh me hearties! Sick of the floods round here so we’ve built a treeboat (I’m saying it’s for the kids but it’s really for ten-year old me!)!"

The West End star fired the imaginations of his fans as he asked for suggestions to add to the treeboat.

"Got the steering wheel, a pirate flag and some sail material! But what else!?" he asked.

"Have some cargo netting on order and thinking a slide up the side. Maybe some barrels!

"Any other nautical playtime imaginings, feel free to offer them up?"

He asked for suggestions on what to add to the boat (Jason Manford/Facebook)

"Thats amazing!!!" gasped one follower on Facebook.

"Brilliant," applauded another.

"Looks fantastic. Johnny Depp might be a good addition!! X" said another follower.

And another fan told him: "Looks awesome!!"

Suggestions came pouring in for Jason.

"A treasure chest and a map with x marks the spot so they can go on an adventure to find it. And a slide coming off the boat... And a plank!!!" one fan exclaimed.

"Underneath should be a sand pit so they can dig for treasure!!!" said another.

"A crow's nest, a mast (so you can fly the obligatory pirate flag), and a treasure chest (which may or may not end up buried somewhere in the garden!)" another told him.

Another suggested: "Some cutlasses and a telescope for spotting ships to plunder. And don’t forget some pirate hats for them too x"

And another wrote: "A patch of sand to bury dubloons in - pirate gold - they used to do this somewhere I went on holiday as a kid - we used to hunt in the sand for them - Scarborough or Bridlington."

While another Facebook user suggested blue gravel to give the illusion of being at sea.

Jason, 40, has also been sharing with fans his hospital stay while having surgery on both ankles.

The funnyman, who is also the host of the BBC1 daytime quiz Unbeatable, ended up watching the show in his hospital room as he was waiting to go down for his operation.

He wrote: "Surreal moment while I’m waiting for my ankles operation! Glad there’s some Unbeatable entertainment on BBC1 keeping me company."

Jason also shared a picture of both of his ankles marked with arrows.

Jason joked: "Always a worry when they’ve gotta use a sharpie so they know which one to do! I’m having both. "

He added: "I almost asked him to write ‘not these’ on my knees."

Back home after his op he shared a photo of himself being checked on by one of his children.

"I’m home and my son is checking my temperature! Only one of my children to show any interest of my return!" he joked.
