Jason Manford dedicates song to Nana after issuing health update

After issuing a health update about his nan, known as Nana Manford, comedian and judge on ITV1's Saturday night entertainment programme Starstruck, Jason Manford has now dedicated a song to her. In February 2023, Jason's grandmother was rushed to the hospital at the age of 99 years old.

Sadly Jason's nan has remained in the hospital and is no longer eating. Jason posted an emotional update to his Instagram where he posted pictures of his family around his nan's bedside and said the situation was "heartbreaking".

Now he has posted a video of him performing the Irish folk song Carrickfergus at the Stockport Plaza, which he has dedicated to both his nan's. He captioned the video: "After a bit of cajoling and ended up singing a song dedicated to my two nanas. My Irish Nana Nora who's no longer with us and Nana Manford who's very poorly. Both of them gave me a love of music and songs, as well as the encouragement to follow my dreams." followed by green and red love heart emojis.

Jason was born in Salford, to an Irish father Ian Manford, and grew up in Manchester. He is best known for his comedy works and is currently a judge on Starstruck and hosts the BBC One gameshow Unbeatable.

In March 2023 Jason gave fans an update about Nana Manford, as he explained she was not eating while in the hospital. He said: "Unfortunately she's still in the hospital. Everyone is doing everything they can to get her home but she's just stopped eating (even when given a box of her favourite chocolates for Mother's Day!) not sure why, she says she wants to come home, knows that eating will help this, but for whatever reason, maybe her dementia, she just won't eat."
