Jason Leitch takes Celtic and Rangers fans inside showdown talks as he reveals 'straightforward' message

Celtic and Rangers will present a united front with the Scottish Government and urge fans to stay at home, claims national clinical director Jason Leitch.

Following large groups gathering in George Square and at Ibrox to celebrate the title victory for Steven Gerrard's side, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has warned the upcoming Old Firm game could be at risk.

Last night the clubs met the with authorities in a bid to avoid any further Covid rule breaches.

On Off The Ball, the national clinical director revealed positive messages coming from crucial talks, with both Rangers and Celtic backing the derby day message.

He said: “The message is stay at home. It’s as simple as that.

“Last night we had a cabinet meeting led by the Minister for Justice Humza Yousaf and the Minster for Health Mairi Gougeon and the two clubs, Police Scotland’s chief constable, me and the local authority, and at that we all decided the message was to come from all of us.

"The message was to be straightforward, stay at home if you’re a fan.

"Watch the game on the tele, celebrate digitally and of course we hope in the fullness of time to have a celebration, but for now stay at home.”
