Jason Leitch in confident Euro 2020 fans prediction as government advisor makes Hampden 'fair wind' claim

Scotland’s National Clinical Director Jason Leitch is confident Hampden will be able to host fans at Euro 2020.

Steve Clarke 's heroes will face the Czech Republic and Croatia on their own patch in the tournament but there has been doubt about whether coronavirus might block the chance for supporters to attend in person.

But Leitch is adamant that continuing to win the fight against the deadly virus could see the Tartan Army given the chance to attend, although not at full capacity.

And in more good news, Wembley is also on the same schedule ahead of facing the Auld Enemy on June 18.

When asked if Hampden would see fans in Euro 2020, he told the BBC: "I really, really hope so and I think with a fair wind.

"With good restrictions now, if people follow them we will have crowds in Hampden and other UK stadia in June.

"I'm not sure that will look normal. I think it may well be limited and distanced.

"I actually think UEFA will be more worried now about France, Belgium, Germany, some other countries in the world where their virus is accelerating.

"That should be a warning to all of us that to keep a lid on it that we have to watch how we behave and I'm looking forward if I could possibly be in that stadium to being there."
