Jason Knight scores again as Derby County draw 2-2 with Middlesbrough

Republic of Ireland youngster Jason Knight made it three goals in as many Championship games for Derby County on Saturday as the Rams drew 2-2 with Middlesbrough.

Duane Holmes' fine late volley rescued a point for the visitors in the 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

The Rams, poor first half, improved second half, and twice battled back in this Championship clash, reports Derbyshire Live.

Across the 90 minutes, Boro were the better team but Derby kept going and they are now unbeaten in four in the League and five in all competitions.

Boro bossed the first half and should have been ahead in the opening minutes, but Lewis Wing sent a free header wide from a corner.

Ashley Fletcher fired wide after Wayne Rooney lost possession before Wing put the home side ahead after 16 minutes when he whipped a right-footed shot from the edge of the area across Ben Hamer and into the corner of the net.

It was a good strike by the Boro midfielder, but he was offered too much time on the edge of Derby's box.

Boro went close two or three more times in the first half and the one positive for Derby at the break was that they trailed by only one goal.

Their best chance in the opening 45 minutes came when Duane Holmes poked a pass through to Martyn Waghorn, but Stephen Pears was out sharply to block.

Derby started the second half on the front foot and levelled after 54 minutes.

Knight, 18, curled over a cross from the right that beat Pears and found the net off the far post.

Back in it, but Derby shot themselves in the foot by conceding a penalty after 66 minutes.

A poor decision by Matt Clarke in going to ground in an attempt to tackle Patrick Roberts saw him bring down the Boro man and Paddy McNair smashed in the spot kick to put the home side back in front.

Time looked to be against Derby but Holmes popped up with a 90th-minute equaliser to earn the Rams a point.
