Jason Kidd is early betting favorite to be Lakers coach in 2019-20

As if the Anthony Davis saga wasn’t enough to tear the Lakers apart, their head coach is a betting favorite to lose his job.

The NBA season is about to head into the All-Star break, but it’s not too early to bet on who you think will be on the sidelines for the Los Angeles Lakers next season.

With reports of Klutch Sports and Magic Johnson not being sold on Luke Walton, as well as the very public statements of LaVar Ball, forces seem to be closing in on him. Fair or not, there’s plenty of reason to wonder if he will be back next season.

So, the folks at the online SportsBook Bovada have odds on who the next coach of the Lakers will be. The favorite is former Bucks head coach Jason Kidd, while Walton is incredibly a long-shot to retain his job.

Jason Kidd EVEN

Marc Jackson +175

Frank Vogel +700

Kevin McHale +700

Tom Thibodeau +700

Luke Walton +850

Phil Jackson +1500

Lavar Ball +50000

And yes, you can actually bet on LaVar Ball to be the coach of the Lakers. While the future is ultimately unclear and things could change between now and the end of the season, but those with money on the situation don’t think Walton is going to keep his job.

Before Kidd was fired last season by the Milwaukee Bucks, he was very effusive in his praise of LeBron James.

Mark Jackson, the second favorite on the list, is represented by Klutch Sports.
