Jason Kelce: Sprinter

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce remains one of the best players at his position, even at this point in his career. But in the Eagles’ game against the Washington Football Team on Tuesday night, he added another line to his impressive resume.

Sprinter.

Early in the third quarter Philadelphia faced a 1st and 10 on their own 41-yard line. Head coach Nick Sirriani called for a run to the left side, with running back Miles Sanders getting the carry. The back burses deep into Washington territory, but pay attention who beats him downfield as you watch this clip:

That’s right. Kelce, the center, races ahead of the play and takes on safety Bobby McCain. Even more amusing about the play is Kelce’s reaction when Sanders actually cuts into McCain, and not behind the center’s block.

Because let’s face it, if you could move downfield like that, you’d want the back to follow your block too.
