Jason Kelce on the Eagles trying to ‘win now’, not focusing on potential draft picks

The Eagles’ upset win over the Saints put the Birds back into the NFC playoff mix but dropped the team back down to No. 9 in updated NFL draft boards.

The discussions surrounding the team have focused on whether the Eagles should tank for a potential top-4 or top-5 draft pick.

Eagles center and future Hall of Famer, Jason Kelce wants no part of tanking and during his Wednesday zoom session, passionately explained why Philadelphia is focused on “winning now” over the future.

“Nothing takes precedence over trying to win a football game. I don’t care who you’re trying to evaluate. I don’t care if you’ve lost every game, you’re 0-15 and it’s the last one you got. Everything is about winning in this league.”

“The moment a team feels like you as an organization aren’t doing your job for me to go out there to win, you’ve shown who you are. You don’t care about me or this team. You care about the future. . …That’s not what the focus is on any winning organization’s team.”

While the organization works to determine quarterback Carson Wentz’s future, Doug Pederson has turned to rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts, and if the Eagles continue to win, the head coach will likely remain intact.
