Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett rejoined the New York Giants on Saturday, hopping on the team train en route to Baltimore where he will resume his play-calling duties on Sunday afternoon.
Garrett missed a Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns after testing positive for COVID-19 and being forced to self-isolate at home. In his place, tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens temporarily took over the play-calling.
The Giants did not initially expect Garrett to rejoin the team on Saturday and believed he would have to travel to Baltimore separately before clearing protocols on Sunday. However, he overcame all necessary hurdles a day early and now things are back to normal.

“From everything we understand, he’ll be available at the game to call plays like he has before. There’s really more of that timetable from the league of,” head coach Joe Judge told reporters on Thursday. “We’re still waiting on a couple points of clarity, but we are expecting to have him at the game calling plays and being on the sideline.”
Under Garrett, the Giants’ offense is among the worst in football. They average just 17.4 points per game and 299.2 yards per game, which is second only to the New York Jets for dead-last in the NFL.
