Jason Garrett had a really lame excuse for why two key WRs sat out final play

Jason Garrett and the Dallas Cowboys suffered a crushing loss to the Eagles on Sunday that could very well cost them the NFC East title and a trip to the playoffs.

It could also be another tough loss that leads to Garrett’s termination, which many Cowboys fans would love.

The Cowboys’ hopes on Sunday came to an end when Dak Prescott’s pass to Michael Gallup on 4th and 8 from the Eagles 23 with 1:21 left went incomplete in the end zone.

If you were watching the game you might have noticed that Amari Cooper, the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, watched that play from the sideline. As did fellow WR Randall Cobb, who had 5 catches for 73 yards in the game.

So why weren’t those guys on the field for the MOST IMPORTANT PLAY OF THE TEAM’S SEASON?

Garrett explained after, saying the two had been on the field a lot in the 2-minute offense and needed a break. Well, the team still had three time outs and could have called one to get their best guys in for the big play, but no:

I mean, I don’t even know what to say to that. Gotta think Bill Belichick and his team would have their top guys in for a play like that. As would pretty much any other coach in the league, right?

That’s a rough look for Garrett, who has had a rough end to this season, and possibly a rough end to his time in Dallas.
