Jason Donovan has been praised as a “good neighbour” after leaving his house in underpants to tackle a fire in west London.
Firefighters were called to a blaze at Chepstow Villas in Notting Hill on September 22, just after 4am.
When they arrived, they found the actor and singer - who shot to fame as Scott Robinson in Australian soap Neighbours in the 1980s - half naked at the scene, battling the blaze with a fire extinguisher.
London Fire Brigade watch manager Thomas Wolfe said: “The fire was located in the side passage next to a house and when we arrived a gentleman was tackling the fire using a fire extinguisher.
“We took over from him and quickly dealt with the blaze.
“It soon transpired that it was Jason Donovan who noticed the fire from his property over the road."
When asked if they would give Donovan a commendation, he quipped: “He looks good for his age. As one of the firefighters said to the resident - everyone needs good neighbours."
Donovan, 51, also tweeted about the incident, thanking London Fire Brigade for attending quickly.
He wrote: "Thank you to the @LondonFire for getting to the situation so quickly, glad no one was hurt."
He added: "This is a good reason to always wear PJ s to bed ( in case of emergencies ) but much more importantly to have fire extinguishes (sic) at hand in the home."
Firefighters said the blaze is believed to have been caused by a fault in electrical cabling. It was under control by 4.28am.
This is not the first time Donovan has sprung to action to help others. Last May, he treated a woman who collapsed in the street just yards from his townhouse.
