Jason Donovan battles a huge house fire in his pants as he rushes to the rescue

Jason Donovan tackled a massive house inferno when he was just in his underwear.

In an astonishing snap, the Australian hero was clad in his white briefs and holding a fire extinguisher as he marched towards the flames consuming a house.

Jason, 51, had wasted no time putting clothes on as he rushed to the scene in his pants, shortly after 4am in the morning.

The actor took action when he saw the blazing flames from his own £5.5million pad, in Kensington.

The fire broke out at a plush townhouse, in Notting Hill, on September 22.

Jason poked fun at himself for only wearing his pants as he pointed out it was a good reason to always wear PJs to bed in case of emergencies.

Accompanied with the snap, he wrote: "Thank you to the @LondonFire for getting to the situation so quickly, glad no one was hurt.

"This is a good reason to always wear PJ s to bed (in case of emergencies ) but much more importantly to have fire extinguishes at hand in the home."

Firefighters were surprised when they found Jason battling the flames of the house fire.

It's believed a fault in electrical cabling sparked the inferno.

London Fire's team were alerted to the scene at 4.09am on Sunday September 22.

Watch Manager Thomas Wolfe said: “The fire was located in the side passage next to a house and when we arrived a gentleman was tackling the fire using a fire extinguisher. We took over from him and quickly dealt with the blaze.

“It soon transpired that it was Jason Donovan who noticed the fire from his property over the road. The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault in electrical cabling.

“He looks good for his age. As one of the firefighters said to the resident, ‘everyone needs good neighbours’."

Jason was very humble when he said he acted in the way he hoped anyone would in his position.

He later told The Sun : "Thank God everyone is safe.

"I praise the emergency services who turned up quickly and I hope anyone in my position would do the same.

"I just acted as anyone else would have acted at the time."
