Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue's 'painful' break-up and his famous soap star daughter

More than three decades after quitting Neighbours, Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue have reunited on set.

The former soap stars will reprise their roles as Charlene and Scott Robinson as the Australian soap comes to an end after 37 years on screen - and first-look photos have teased what's to come in the Channel 5 show's forthcoming finale.

Pictures from on set show them laughing and embracing, with Kylie wearing denim overalls of the sort beloved by her character and Jason sporting a check shirt and jeans

He posted a photo of the street sign for Ramsay Street signed by him and his co-star, as well as a snap of the cover of his script, writing: "So good to be back with this absolute legend @kylieminogue."

But how did it end for Jason and Kylie as one of the nation's favourite couples of the late eighties? And who did Jason end up marrying?

Here we take a look at the Too Many Broken Hearts singer's home life.

The young actors met on the set of the Australian soap Neighbours where they both shot to stardom.

Jason and Kylie, who are now both 54, played couple Scott and Charlene until their departures in 1989 and 1988 respectively.

But their relationship spilled over into their real life as they formed a romantic relationship off-screen. They both launched music careers, singing together in the hit classic Especially For You in 1988.

But after three years of dating, Kylie brutally dumped Jason. Speaking to the Mirror in 2016, Jason said: "It was an extremely painful parting of the ways and, without a doubt, I took a long time to recover from it. Years, definitely."

At the time of their relationship ending, Jason was working in New York while Kylie was in Japan - both promoting their music across the world.

Kylie had met and fallen in love with INXS frontman Michael Hutchence.

Jason explained: "It was bad enough that she'd run off with anybody but she happened to run into the arms of the greatest rock god of the period, the very guy who I secretly wanted to be.

"That was a pretty big punch to take."

While later appearing on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, Jason confessed that his own jealousy of her solo success likely contributed to his split from Kylie.

"I knew I was in love with her when she became successful on her own," he told Piers.

"It was a jealousy thing.

"I could see her slipping away. I am sure it happened before that, but it was not until I could see her going off in one direction, I thought I was going to lose her."

Jason went on to marry Angela Malloch, with whom he shares three children, and moved into a career on stage performing in the West End.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star has been married to his wife Angela Malloch since 2008 - but the pair had been together for 10 years before they tied the knot.

Angela keeps a very low profile, so not much is known about her. When she first met Jason, she was working as a stage manager in London.

In 2015, she set up a company selling ethically sourced gifts for boys. Her business partner was Dawn Barlow - the wife of Take That frontman Gary.

Jason has publicly said his wife, who he says is the 'love of his life', helped him overcome a cocaine addiction, saying he “wouldn’t be standing” if it weren’t for Angela, reports OK!

After battling the addiction when they met, Jason decided to seek help after Angela fell pregnant with their first child, Jemma.

“Had it not been for her [Angela], I doubt I'd still be standing,” Jason told The Mirror. “She was my saving grace and set to become the real love of my life.”

Who are Jason’s children?

Jason and Angela are parents to Jemma, 22, Zac, 21, and Molly, 11.

Eldest daughter Jemma takes after her father and is an actress in Neighbours, splitting her time between Melbourne and London.

She plays Harlow Robinson in the show and admitted she initially felt "pressure" to prove herself on the soap.

"I think, at the beginning I was like, 'Oh, I really want to make sure that I prove myself here as well, and not just come on because of the family name in that sense.' So, I think there was a bit of pressure, but I really enjoyed proving myself," she told the Mirror.

"I love acting, I've always wanted to be an actor, so to be able to do something, on this show as well, and it is the most incredible training ground for any actor. I've learned so much and I'm so grateful."

Where do they live?

The Aussie actor and musician lives in London with his wife Angela and their three kids - and their £5.5m home is nothing short of spectacular.

They own a stunning five-bedroom property in Notting Hill, which oozes elegance.

The family have lived there for 10 years and Jason has previously admitted he fell in love with the area while working in the capital as a pop star before making the city his permanent home.

Neighbours will end with a double-episode special on Channel 5 at 9pm on July 29.
