Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue 'confirm' their return to Neighbours

Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue have reportedly confirmed they will be returning to the set of Neighbours following a teaser of the show's script on social media.

The 53-year-olds are set to return to the Australian soap opera, reprising their roles as beloved couple Scott and Charlene Robinson. It comes as the show was announced to be axed later on this summer to the dismay of its long-time fans.

The pair shared snaps of what appeared to be a Neighbours script on Instagram on Saturday (April 30). In Kylie's post, the first half of the programme's title can be seen alongside the name Scott. Meanwhile, Jason's post shared another part of the title alongside Charlene's name.

Jason also tagged his former Neighbours co-star in the social media post which has led to many fans' speculation that they will be returning for one last hurrah before the show gets axed. The stars were reported to have already shot scenes together at Pin Oak Court in Vermont South in Melbourne.

Previously, Jason teased the reunion on the Big Breakfast radio show. He said: "Well look I'm not going to say there hasn't been a discussion about it because you know there is a possibility"

Neighbours was announced to be ending on Twitter in last March due to funding issues. In a tweet they said: "We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June.

"Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show.

"To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team.

"We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours."
