Jason Cundy piles on Rangers Champions League misery as Gordon Ramsey and Ally McCoist called out in bizarre rant

Shock jock Jason Cundy took aim at Rangers after defeat to Ajax saw the Ibrox side become the worst ever Champions League group stage side.

It has been a season to forget for Gio van Bronckhorst 's team after they finished the Group A campaign without a single point having suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Napoli, Liverpool and the Dutch champions. Alfred Schreuder's side compounded a miserable campaign after Francisco Conceicao's late strike sealed their fate as statistically the poorest side ever to make it to the group stage.

Rangers finished their European campaign pointless with a goal difference of -20, surpassing Dinamo Zagreb's previous record of -19 that had stood for 11 years. Cundy, who has previously been vocal in his criticism of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic's performance in the Champions League, couldn't resist a pot shot at last season's Europa League finalists after their fate was sealed.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy gleefully asked: "Has anyone seen the worst side in group stage Champions League history? Has anyone seen Rangers?”

The former Chelsea and Ipswich star then proceeded to call out the starting XI, listing every player who had landed the unwanted record. He then asked: “Can you hear me? Your boys have had one hell of a beating.”

The bizarre rant continued as he listed the substitutes who came on against Ajax, before taking aim at some high profile Rangers fans. He went on: “Gordon Ramsay, Ally McCoist, Ibrox Stadium, can you hear me? Your boys are the worst team in Champions League group stage history. Your boys took one hell of a beating.”

Cundy then rounded off the blast by shouting over fellow pundit Jamie O'Hara. He repeatedly screamed into the microphone: “The worst side ever”.
