Jason Cummings set for return to Scotland after Nottingham Forest sanction move

Former Hibs striker Jason Cummings has been linked with a move back to Scotland after falling out of favour at Nottingham Forest.

The front man made the move to the City Ground from Easter Road for an undisclosed fee in 2017, but the Scotland international hasn’t featured for the Forest first team in nearly two years.

Since the arrival of new manager Sabri Lamouchi, Cummings has been told he is free to find a new club.

He played and scored in Forest U23’s 2-1 defeat to Mansfield Town last night.

A loan move to St Johnstone could now happen according to reports, and the 23-year-old is expected in Perth today to finalise the switch.

The news may come as a blow to some Hibs fans, who had been keen to see the club at least look in to bringing their former favourite and Scottish Cup winner back to the club.

Florian Kamberi, Chris Doidge and Oli Shaw are the recognised centre forwards at the club, and fans had been keen to see another added to the squad.

However, Paul Heckingbottom confirmed last week that his business was done barring any unforeseen developments.

It comes as a fresh disappointment to those who wanted to see Cummings in green and white again after the popular Stephane Omeonga completed a loan move to Cercle Brugge, ruling out a possible second spell with Hibs.

Heckingbottom also admitted that striker Marc McNulty was currently out of Hibs’ price range, and the Edinburgh native has since been linked with Sunderland.
