Jason Cummings hits back at Dundee over Open Goal row as he slams James McPake 'lie'

Jason Cummings has fired back at Dundee over claims that he was unfit to train after attending an Open Goal event back in December.

Former Hibs and Rangers striker Cummings walked out on the club after James McPake publicly criticised him.

The then-Dee boss slammed Cummings' professionalism after sending him home from training early.

He claimed the striker was in no condition to join his teammates and he didn't feature for them again, joining A-League side Central Coast Mariners in January.

But in a scathing blast, Cummings has now spoken out - claiming he was given no chance to tell his side of the story.

And although he holds his hands up, he claims McPake's claims over his condition were "completely untrue" - and that his former boss told a "lie".

He told the Sydney Morning Herald : “I’d probably hold my hands up, I didn't ask for permission to do that from the club.

"I went on and done my little cameo as the Joker and I came home straight after the show.

“It’s completely untrue (that I turned up unfit to train).

“It was frustrating for me because I didn't really get the chance to have my say, and my side of the story was completely different.

"The manager wasn't really having me. He didn't want to play me for some reason. I was at training on time and they just sent me home, said I was unfit to train, which was just a lie - even the players and people will back me up for that.

"They just made it into a big thing, like ‘Cummings is unfit, Cummings is this’, I just feel like so it made it easier for them to get rid of me, which has worked out perfectly for me."
