Jarvis Landry clarifies his comments about expecting the Browns to win in New England

Jarvis Landry does not want to be misrepresented. The veteran Browns receiver knows all too well how quotes can be taken out of context.

Landry did indeed say he expects his Browns to win when they head to New England this Sunday to play the Patriots. But he did not guarantee a victory, as was initially reported by some outlets in the Boston area.

The full exchange tells the story. From Nate Ulrich at Ohio.com,

A reporter asked Landry, “Now that you guys are all rested up, what’s your sense for how the Browns are gonna do coming out of the bye?”

Landry replied, “Well, we’re gonna win. We’re gonna win. I think it’s just that simple. We’re getting guys back healthy again, and we’re gonna win.”

That is the entire quote. No guarantees. No mention of the Patriots.

Of course Landry expects his team to win. He wouldn’t be much of a professional if he didn’t think they could come home victorious.

Later in the give-and-take with reporters, Landry said, “The mission don’t change. It’s the same thing. We’re going to win the game, you know?”

He clarified that he meant to say the Browns are going “there” — meaning Foxboro — with every intention of winning.
