Jarvis Landry: Adam Gase used being traded to Browns as a threat when he coached in Miami

It’s one thing for partisan fans to poke fun at another organization with a track record of not being very good. It’s another when the head coach of a team adopts the same disrespectful attitude as a joke.

That’s what New York Jets coach Adam Gase did during his tenure as the Miami Dolphins head coach. Gase would derisively threaten to trade players from Miami to Cleveland and the Browns as a way to intimidate or bully players into conforming to his way.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry confirmed this was the truth on Friday. Landry was indeed traded by the Dolphins to the Browns in the winter of 2018, while Gase was still the coach. The Dolphins had placed the franchise tag on Landry but didn’t want a long-term deal, so they traded him to Cleveland.

Thus far Landry has had the last laugh. Gase got fired and the Dolphins appear to be gunning for an 0-16 record of their own. The wideout showed no real lingering ill will toward Gase or the trade, as he told 92.3 the Fan’s Daryl Ruiter:
