NSW police are investigating sexual assault allegations involving rugby league star Jarryd Hayne.
The ABC understands the 30-year-old arranged to meet with a woman at a house in the Hunter region on grand final night on September 30.
The pair allegedly had sex and the woman told detectives she suffered injuries during the encounter.
No charges have been laid.
Hayne is also facing a civil suit in the United States over allegations he raped a Californian woman during his time playing NFL with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015.
Hayne "unequivocally and vehemently" denied the US allegations, in a statement distributed by his lawyers.
He left the Parramatta Eels to chase his dream of playing professional football in America's National Football League.
But his dream ended after one season with the San Francisco 49ers.
He then returned to the NRL after a failed attempt to join the Fiji Rugby Sevens team at the Rio Olympics, playing for the Gold Coast Titans for one season before re-joining the Eels.
