North East MP has slated Boris Johnson on social media, minutes after the results of this evening's confidence vote was announced.
The UK Prime Minister has made headlines around the globe today, when it was announced by Sir Graham Brady that his own Conservative Members of Parliament had called for a vote of no confidence.
The vote was triggered when the Chairman of the 1922 Committee received at least 54 letters of no confidence from Tory MPs after Sue Gray's Partygate report was published - deeming that Johnson had breached stringent lockdown rules and regulations set by him and his cabinet members during the global Coronavirus pandemic.

Voting took place in Parliament from 6pm to 8pm tonight - with 359 Conservative MPs having their say on the PM's future. And when the results were announced, he had persuaded enough of his own people to allow him to retain his position, with 211 votes to 148 - just 32 votes shy from being ousted completely.
And while some Tory MPs took to social media to congratulate Boris Johnson in his small victory tonight, a number of the opposition wasted no time in berating him. One of which was MP for Jarrow, Kate Osborne who prepared a lengthy statement which was released just moments after the results were read.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Boris Johnson has lied to parliament, partied whilst people died and has proved incompetent again and again.
"He failed to protect people in care homes throughout the pandemic and he has failed to deal with the cost of living crisis. Preferring to allow big business and cronies to make billions in profits whilst families struggle.
"Yet even now the majority of Tory MPs support this law breaking and chaotic Prime Minister who thinks the rules he imposed on us all don’t apply to him. These 211 Tory MPs are complicit in Boris Johnson’s attempt at wrecking democracy and confidence in our political system.
"This Conservative Government is in total chaos and has let down the British people for far too long.
"Voters will not forget this moment at the next general election.”
