Jarrod Bowen injury: West Ham manager David Moyes issues update ahead of Burnley trip

West Ham manager David Moyes is hopeful Jarrod Bowen will be fit to face Burnley this weekend.

The forward failed to feature for England during the international break due to fitness concerns, missing the win over Malta and then returning to his club before the flight to North Macedonia.

Gareth Southgate said last week: "Unfortunately Jarrod picked up an injury, I think he felt it a little bit yesterday and again at the end of training today.

“We didn’t really have enough time to assess it fully and make a really accurate decision before the game so we felt better to leave him in England so that he can get it properly assessed. I don’t think it’s going to be anything serious but we just didn’t have enough time and we wouldn’t take a risk in that situation.”

With Michail Antonio sidelined for "a couple of weeks" after picking up an injury of his own while with the Jamaica squad, Moyes is keen for his most impressive forward to be fit for the trip to Turf Moor.

He told reporters on Friday: "Michail has got a small injury. It's not serious. it will probably keep him out for a couple of weeks. I think, give or take, two weeks. I don't want to nail down an exact time scan but about that long.

"We hope Jarrod will be available tomorrow against Burnley but we will make a decision on that tomorrow."
