Jaren Jackson Jr. was 4th in NBA Rookie of the Year voting

The NBA regular-season awards were revealed last week, and while we were busy covering the deluge of football recruiting and Spartans playing in the NBA’s summer league, there was a cool tidbit of news to come out surrounding the annual voting. Jaren Jackson Jr., despite only playing in 58 games Jackson was ranked fourth in voting for the Kia NBA Rookie of the Year award with 12 third place votes.

Jun 21, 2018; Brooklyn, NY, USA; Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Jackson had a fantastic year with the Memphis Grizzlies after being drafted 4th in the 2018 NBA Draft. He averaged 13.8 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. He sat out for the last 24 games of the season with a quad injury. I think if he played the whole year he probably would have been third in voting ahead of Deandre Ayton.

Of course, Luka Doncic and Trae Young led the group after their extremely productive seasons.
