Jared Goff the latest to set quarterback market for Mitchell Trubisky’s future

Mitchell Trubisky hasn’t thrown a pass in eight months, but he should already have dollar signs in his eyes as he looks around the league.

There’s never been a better time to be a young quarterback in the NFL as teams hand out record-breaking contracts left and right to the next generation under center.

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Rams agreed to a new four-year extension with Jared Goff worth $134 million with an unprecedented $110 million guaranteed.

The contract was great work by Goff’s agent from Rep 1 Sports, who also happens to represent Trubisky. The same agent also negotiated the $128 million extension for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz this offseason.

Both young quarterbacks earned their new contracts entering their fourth seasons, which would put Trubisky on pace to start negotiations next offseason.

First, he still needs to prove he can be as productive as the top two picks from the 2016 NFL Draft. It’s not a contract year for the Bears quarterback, but Trubisky is playing for a big payday that’s only increasing as his agent sets new records.
