Jared Goff’s MVP odds improve, Todd Gurley’s worsen in latest update

Jared Goff has had a solid offseason for the Los Angeles Rams and the oddsmakers are taking notice. With the Super Bowl well behind him and the upcoming season close, Goff’s stock is on the rise heading into 2019.

At the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, Goff’s odds of winning NFL MVP have improved dramatically since over the last month and a half. On June 25, his odds were 60/1 – trailing far behind the likes of Baker Mayfield, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger and even Tom Brady.

In the latest update on July 31, Goff is now 30/1, which is close to Roethlisberger, Ryan, Mayfield and Watson, all of whom have 20/1 odds. That puts him tied for 13th with Derek Carr, surprisingly enough.

As Goff’s odds improve, his teammate’s have worsened. Todd Gurley, with all the speculation surrounding his knee, has seen his betting odds go from 100/1 on June 25 to 200/1 currently. That’s tied with defensive players such as Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Fletcher Cox and Luke Kuechly. James Conner and Damien Williams now have better odds to win MVP than Gurley.

Sure, Gurley’s workload will be lighter than it was the past two years, but that doesn’t mean he won’t still rack up more than 1,000 yards rushing and score at least 15 touchdowns. He leads the NFL in touchdowns since the start of the 2017 season.

Aaron Donald’s odds of 100/1 have remained the same and are tied with Khalil Mack for the best of a defensive player.
