Jared Goff returns to the Lions from reserve/COVID-19 list

The Detroit Lions have their starting quarterback back in the den. Jared Goff has returned to the team after clearing the required COVID-19 protocols set by the NFL.

Goff spent a week on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive last Monday. He reported being symptomatic on his own. Unfortunately, Goff could not clear the required test in time to play in Sunday’s 20-16 loss to the Falcons in Atlanta.

Tim Boyle got the start in Goff’s place and kept the team close before throwing a bad interception to seal the loss.

Goff had been playing better in recent weeks and was the winner of the FedEx Air Player of the Week in Week 15 after leading the Lions to an upset win over the Cardinals.

Alas, Goff could be without one of his top targets. Wide receiver Josh Reynolds was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, as was practice squad QB Steven Montez.
