Jared Dudley compares he and Dwight Howard’s place on Lakers to ‘Last Chance U’

If you’re a frequent reader of this blog, you know we love a good television reference as purveyors of The Real Lakers of Los Angeles. And one of the Lakers newest cast members believes that he and recent Lakers signing Dwight Howard are on a show of their own: “Last Chance U,” the reality show on Netflix about a junior college football team made of cast-offs trying to make it back to the highest levels of the sport.

During his Media Day interview with Spectrum SportsNet, new Laker and 12-year veteran forward Jared Dudley said matter of factly that his one-year contract with the Lakers may be his last chance to stay in the league and the same goes for center Dwight Howard, who was signed a few weeks ago to a non-guaranteed deal.

“Last Chance University? It’s a last chance for all of us. You win, you get more chances.”

While Howard himself didn’t discuss that it could be his last chance, he’s been consistent in his messaging with the media since he got to L.A. He’s consistently said that he “just wants to win,” and to hear Dudley tell it, that would be both of their best chances to extend their already long careers beyond this season.
